McIntosh History

McIntosh Plant Hire (Aberdeen) Ltd (MPH), began from a company owned and run by the current Managing Director’s father. Incorporated in 1976 the company remains a wholly owned, family run business, operating from a unique purpose built 63 acre site 10 miles west of Aberdeen in the scenic North East Scottish countryside.

The early days of the oil and gas pipelines and major roads construction in the late 70’s and early 80’s supplied the real kick-start to the business that led to the organisation as it exists today.

Recognising the very real market opportunity for the provision of top quality, reliable earthmoving equipment the company invested heavily in construction equipment and still prides itself in having a large, modern, well maintained fleet to meet all client requirements.

The company has an unrivalled wealth of experience in every aspect of earthmoving and general civil engineering ground works. Projects undertaken include new housing and industrial developments, new construction and upgrade of existing road networks and the construction of golf courses, having completed eight new Scottish courses to date.

MPH incorporates McIntosh Heavy Logistics (MHL) a division which is recognised for its expertise in the movement of heavy and abnormal loads on a UK basis. The development of the 63 acre site allied to the modern fleet of specialist Low Loaders has moved MHL on from originally taking care of the in-house movements for MPH earthmoving equipment, to a business responsible for the transportation of equipment for many major companies within the Global Energy Sector.

As the MPH site developed the provision of external storage or yard space was added to by the building of modern industrial warehouse and workshop Units. MPH now boasts a range of Industrial Units many of which have been leased out to Major Oil Companies and Blue Chip Service Sector organisations.

MPH remains committed to the values that have served this family run business since 1976.
