Earthworks
Currently
operating a modern fleet of some 75 items of earthmoving plant and transport,
McIntosh Plant Hire (Aberdeen) Ltd has progressed somewhat since it’s
humble beginnings consisting of a ‘Dinkum Digger’, a tractor &
trailer and a Hillman Minx motorcar.
The company played a vital role in the laying of the numerous oil and gas
pipelines that snaked their way across the North East countryside in the late
1970’s to early 1980’s and have just recently completed further
major works on the installation of a new 70kmgas pipeline between the St Fergus
Gas Terminal and the Garlogie Booster Station (both Aberdeenshire).
McIntosh Plant Hire was also heavily involved in the construction and upgrade
of approximately 40 miles of major road networks in and around Aberdeenshire
such as the A90 dual carriageway south of Stonehaven, the A96 at Inverurie
and the A92 (now A90) at Balmedie and Ellon – all for various local
and national contractors. It was these major earthworks projects of the late
70s/early 80s which allowed the company to establish itself as the leading
earthworks contractor in the North East of Scotland.
Golf course construction has also played a vital role in the growth of the
company. New venues such as Colinsburgh in Fife, Auchmill in Aberdeen, Newmachar
near Aberdeen and, more recently, Peebles near Edinburgh have provided a significant
contribution to the company’s workload and considerable experience has
been attained accordingly.
A more recent contract included the site clearance and ground excavation for
a 45 acre prime industrial & commercial business park in Westhill, Aberdeenshire
and was completed within the projects construction timetable. This involved
the removal of large quantities of surplus material off site, reduced level
dig and infilling operations through to sewers and roads construction. The
business park is now occupied by many major names such as COSTCO, The North
Of Scotland Water Authority, INVSAT and Scottish & Newcastle to name a
few. McIntosh Plant Hire has been contracted to develop a further 50 acres
on the second phase of the business park during 2003/2004 and looks forward
to the same successful and satisfactory completion of the project.
Spring 2003 sees the commencement of a new housing scheme for 153 houses in
the village of Blackburn near Aberdeen. These substantial works are being
carried out for The Stewart Milne Group, a name recognised throughout the
UK as being synonymous with quality built houses. McIntosh Plant Hire enjoys
a close working relationship with The Stewart Milne Group year in year out
and is proud of the successful association between the two companies. This
is of course just one customer name in an enviable list of many prestigious
north east contractors and companies whom McIntosh Plant Hire are proud to
be associated with and have well established and long term working relationships
with.
McIntosh Plant Hire (Aberdeen) Ltd is pleased to work for both private individuals
and companies alike, providing the exact same level of service and professionalism.
